Our Story

Fire, ocean & the flavors of the Pacific.

Cherryfish was born from a simple obsession — what happens when you run charcoal-grilled Japanese technique through the lens of coastal California? Chef Marcus Twilegar's deep ties to San Diego's local fishermen and farms form the backbone of a menu that lives between tradition and invention. Modern American izakaya, designed for sharing.

The Kitchen

Chef Marcus Twilegar built his reputation at Dockside Fish at the Tuna Harbor Dockside Market, at Palmy's next door, and through Fish to Families — providing hundreds of weekly meals to food-insecure San Diegans. His direct relationships with local fishermen mean the fish on your plate was swimming this morning.
